HPE Storage LTO Ultrium Tape Drives (formerly HPE StoreEver LTO Ultrium Tape Drives) represent nine generations of Linear Tape Open (LTO) technology capable of storing up to 45 TB ^[1] per cartridge, with hardware data encryption, and with a Linear Tape File System (LTFS) for ease of use and unprecedented performance. 256-bit AES hardware data encryption provides easy-to-enable security, protecting sensitive data and preventing unauthorized access to tape cartridges. LTFS is an open format for storing data on tape that makes fifth-generation and later LTO tapes self-describing and file-based. With data transfer rates of up to 300 MB/s native, data rate matching further optimizes performance by matching the host system speed to maintain the drives' data flow, enabling higher throughput on tapes.
