With the idea of providing an easy way to know if the lightning rod system has received a discharge and to comply with the regulations, TOTAL GROUND designs and manufactures the TG-CDA discharge meter .
The atmospheric discharge counter, or lightning counter, is an electronic device designed to detect the impacts of lightning on atmospheric protection facilities and allow immediate control and verification of them.
FUNCTIONING:
The TG-CDA is a counter of atmospheric discharges (rays), whose purpose is to detect the moment in which the impact of lightning occurs, to have a constant and reliable control of the amount of discharges that the protection system has received.
The device registers each of the impacts by increasing its electronic counter by one.
The TG-CDA is installed in the down conductor of the lightning rod, two meters above the ground.
The installation of lightning counters is indicated in the standards UNE 21.186 and NFC 17.102 , which states:
"A lightning protection system has to be verified after any lightning strike registered in the structure."
