Kingston's DC1000B is a high-performance PCIe NVMe M.2 (2280) SSD for Data Centers, utilizing the latest PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 interface with 64-layer 3D TLC NAND. The DC1000B offers data centers an affordable boot drive solution with the assurance that they are purchasing an SSD designed for server use. The DC1000B is ideal for use in high-density rack servers as an internal boot drive, as well as for use in purpose-built systems where a high-performance M.2 SSD with built-in power loss protection (PLP) is required.
Data Center DC1000B
Kingston's DC1000B Data Center is a PCIe NVMe M.2 (2280) drive that uses the advanced Gen 3.0 x 4 PCIe interface with 64-layer 3D TLC NAND. The DC1000B offers data centers an excellent value boot drive solution, with the assurance of purchasing an SSD specifically designed for servers. The DC1000B model is particularly suitable for high-volume rack-mounted servers as an internal boot drive, as well as for custom systems where M.2 SSDs with integrated power loss protection (PLP) are required.
Enterprise Data Center NVMe Boot SSD
NVMe M.2 SSDs are evolving within data centers, enhancing the efficiency of boot servers by protecting drive bays from incoming loads in the data storage process. White label and top-tier server OEMs are beginning to equip their server motherboards with at least one, and sometimes two, M.2 connectors for booting purposes. While the M.2 form factor was originally designed as a client SSD form factor, its small dimensions and high performance make it attractive for use in servers. Not all SSDs are created equal, and using a client SSD in a server application can lead to poor and inconsistent performance.
Applications
Boot drives are primarily used for booting operating systems, though in many cases they have a secondary purpose: loading application data, or being configured as high-speed local cache drives. Consequently, the DC1000B drive has been designed for extended lifespan (0.5 DWPD for 5 years), in order to handle both the operating system workload and the additional load of caching and logging data. In addition to being designed for long-term reliability, the DC1000B drive is designed to deliver specific enterprise-level performance with low-latency characteristics uncommon in client SSDs. Available in 240 GB and 480 GB* capacities.
* Some of the capacities listed on a Flash storage device are used for formatting and other functions, and are therefore not available for data storage. For this reason, the actual data storage capacity is less than indicated on the products.
